Magnet Issue 81: Discipleship
The Spring issue of Magnet looks at the theme of 'Discipleship' and what being a disciple means in the 21st century. What does this role demand of us? Tom Stuckey explores these themes in our lead article. Other features look at how we balance our role as a follower of Jesus with our daily roles in society - featuring an interview with the current Vice President of Methodist Conference, Ruby Beech, and a look at the faith and career of folk singer Maddy Prior.
The magazine also considers costly discipleship and the challenges young people can face as believers, as well as those who live out their discipleship by devoting themselves to serving their community.
Worship resources include a celebration of Jesus' female disciples, written by poet and theologian Nicola Slee, a selection of meditation pages on the theme, a Bible study on Matthew 4:1-11 by Revd Dee Dee Haines and a Prayer Focus on the plight of Christians who are persecuted for practising their faith
June Lunn was a gifted disciple who served Magnet as a volunteer and was responsible for our colourful meditation pages in the 1990s. Her friend and Magnet colleague, Rosemary Wass, reflects on her life and achievements.
